Beautiful vintage Italian musical side table featuring an elaborate inlaid wood top, graceful curved legs and a hinged storage compartment.
The tabletop is the standout feature, with richly detailed floral and scrollwork designs, birds, geometric borders and contrasting wood tones. The hinged top opens to reveal a finished wood interior with multiple divided compartments, making the table equally suited for use as a jewelry table, sewing table, small keepsake table or decorative accent piece.
The underside retains its original “Isola di Capri 1571” label, corresponding to the tune played by the musical movement.
Music box: The musical movement is present and working—the music plays when the mechanism is activated directly. The winding key is currently stuck and will not turn, so the music box cannot be wound using the key in its present condition. We have not forced the key or attempted a repair. The winding mechanism will need adjustment or repair for normal operation.
The table was originally fitted with a lock; the lock hardware and key are no longer present.
Approximate dimensions:
17" wide
11" deep
16" high
Condition: This is a vintage piece with wear consistent with age and use, including scattered scratches, scuffs, finish wear and wear along the tabletop edges. The decorative inlaid top remains beautiful and displays wonderfully. The music box movement plays when activated directly, but the winding key does not currently turn and will require adjustment or repair for normal use. The original lock and key are missing. Please review all photographs closely for condition and details.
Shipping: To protect the table and reduce the risk of damage during transit, it will be shipped with the four legs removed. Each leg and its corresponding position have been numbered so they can be easily matched for reassembly. The buyer will need to reinstall the legs upon arrival.
A beautiful and unusual piece of vintage Italian decorative furniture, combining intricate marquetry, functional storage and a traditional musical movement.
