$285.00
3463
This specific piece is a Japanese Moriage Satsuma-style vase marked with the Shimazo Mon—the most famous symbol on Satsuma ware is the Shimazu family crest—a simple cross inside a circle. It features a heavily textured, hand-painted design using the moriage technique (raised enamel slip trail painting). The central figure depicted is Kannon (Guanyin), the Buddhist Goddess of Compassion, shown seated on a golden lotus throne surrounded by a halo (gloria) and flowing robes. This authentic Satsuma vase features earthenware with fine crackle glaze in colors of iron red and gold gilt accents. This pottery vase is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks and stands 7.5 inches tall and measures 5 inches across.
