Up for sale is a beautiful and highly collectible vintage Japanese Sosaku (Creative) Kokeshi doll titled "Fuyu no Kodomo" (Winter Child / 冬の子供).
This masterpiece was handcrafted and carved by the celebrated late artisan Aida Seiho (also known under the artist name Harumine, 1926-1998).
About the design:
The doll features a distinctive, deeply textured chisel carving all around its body, representing a traditional Japanese straw rain/snow coat (Mino). The rich wood grain is beautifully enhanced by a subtle reddish-orange sunset gradient near the base, creating a wonderful warm contrast. The serene face with closed eyes captures the peaceful and cozy spirit of winter.
