Beautiful vintage Mexican folk-art bird, hand carved from wood and hand painted in a striking turquoise blue, black, red and cream palette.
The bird features stylized painted feather and decorative motifs and has wonderful handmade character. The underside is marked “MEXICO” and also has an additional artisan/artist marking.
Provenance: The current owner is 58 years old and remembers having this bird as a small child while living in San Antonio, Texas. It has remained in her possession for more than 50 years.
This is a vintage handmade folk-art piece rather than a modern reproduction. It has the natural variations and imperfections expected of an older hand-carved and hand-painted object.
Condition: Vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, including areas of paint loss, scuffs, small nicks and wear to the painted finish. Please examine all photographs carefully, including the underside and markings, as they are an important part of the description.
