Vintage hand-painted Erandi Tonalá pottery vase from Mexico. This rounded vase features alternating geometric patterns in blue, green, coral and earthy neutral tones. Signed “Erandi Tonala Mexico” on the underside.
Tonalá, Jalisco, has been one of Mexico’s most important pottery centers for centuries. During the 1950s and 1960s, artisans including Jorge Wilmot and Ken Edwards helped introduce modern high-fire stoneware techniques to the region. Erandi became known for combining that Tonalá pottery tradition with colorful, hand-painted designs created by Mexican artisans.
