This is an Outstanding Resistol - Late 1970s Early 1989s Big Gambler style Cowboy Hat - with that Outstanding Rolled Brim - 3X Beaver - color SilverBelly. Some folks call this a “Telescope Crown”.
The size tag states size “7” and measures to a perfect size 7. We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the actual size.
This is one hat that we do NOT think needs any custom shaping at all!
That Beautiful Rolled Brim is just OUTSTANDING! We know how much work goes into “Rolling” a brim and this one if Perfect! We no longer do rolled brims on hats, it’s that old hands just cannot get it right, it is a lot more work than folks think it is! And manipulating the tool with hands is just a job these old hands cannot do anymore.
This is the same hat that you’ll see in so many of the Great Old Westerns! Just a Real Cowboy style!
Dad found that feather set, it looks Great with this hat! It’s not perfect but still in great condition. It’s easily removed if you want to change it. See pictures.
NOTE: that Resistol Hat Box is NOT included in this sale. That hat box ended up being toosmall for this hat. The brim sticks out over the sides. We are looking in Dad’s stock of Resistol hat boxes to see if one is available? If we do find one we will edit this listing to reflect that.
This is still one BIG Hat, at nearly 15 inches in length, it will still require a LARGE SHIPPING BOX! We do NOT squeeze any hat inside to small a shipping box just to save a couple of dollars! We want it to arrive just as Pictured!
This is an older vintage 3X Beaver, that was actually manufactured by Resistol, before HATCO bought them out and started making hats that just aren’t as good. Well that’s our own opinion.
NOTE:We have set up a OPTION to buy that NEW Horsehair hatband! It’s just a great addition to this hat! You must write to us if you want to buy it? We have set up a special listing for the ones that are set up like this. You will just send us an offer for $55 and we will accept it and of course that will be included inside the same shipping box, so shipping will be FREE! It is item number 226998822088. You can see we added pictures of what you will be buying or you may select the one that you want from that listing?
This is made from the older original Resistol 3X Beaver. It’s soft to the touch and a nice quality Beaver, this is not as stiff and hard like the Brand New ones are! We call this semi-pliable. See video. We recently went to a hat shop and it seems like the mid beaver quality hat are EXTREMELY hard and stiff! This is a more pliable than those. Not as pliable as Dad’s older vintage pre-1960s hats but still very nice.
But this still appears to never have been worn but it’s just to nice of a hat? It’s just too beautiful to have a never been worn! It must have been worn more than a handful of times but shows no signs of that.Just look at all the pictures! We NEVER hide anything! Please write to us if you see anything at all?
When you look through the pictures, you’ll see there is NO wear on the Reed, part of the leather sweatband that attaches to the hat. That’s where you’d find wear if it was really worn a lot!The leather sweatband has NO wear on it at all! NO MOTH BITES OR STAINS! We just can’t find any signs that this was worn! The only thing my grandson saw after taking pictures outside is what we will call a super tiny disturbance on the beaver, see last picture. We know that it’s really hard to see but it’s there. NOBODY Will ever see this when it’s worn.
That SilverBelly color is best reflected in the picture of the whole underside and the video.See picture with that hat sizer, measures to a perfect 7. We always measure all our hats 3 times, using different methods.
If you have any questions please write us.Ok now the particulars
The size tag states 7 but this measures to a PERFECT 7 at 22 inches or 56.
We use the Tilley Hat Sizing chart for sizes, that came in the 1970s when the Tilley Hat Sizing Chart was developed.
And like always we measure each hat 3 times using different methods to verify the actual size!Color is SilverBelly and the picture of the whole is the best representation of the actual color of this hat. We don’t know why we can’t get a color to come out consistently to reflect the actual color for every picture? If anyone can help please write to us.Size 7 or 22 inches or 56

Length 14.75 inchesWidth 13 inches, just as it is, at the widest part, approx.
Wide Brim - width 3-1/4 inchesHeight in the Open Crown is 4-1/8 inches
Matching Grosgrain Ribbon is a bit less than 3/8 of an inch.
Feather set is still in good condition, not perfect but looks great with this hat!THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL HAT! Everyone will turn heads for this hat!We Carefully packaged and ships though Fedex.Local pickup is always free.Ship with Fedex or USPS Ground Advantage mail, whichever arrives quickest. Dad has collected hats for a lifetime and there are 100s of them, on shelves, stacked in closets and spare bedrooms. We are slowly listing these special hats weekly. We stand behind the garentee and have NEVER had and issue with returns. We ask you to verify your hat size before you buy and we supply the maximum amount of pictures but if you need anything please write and ask. No Smoking - No PetsThank You
NOTE: when we ship Dad’s hats out we use strong shipping boxes and each hat we ship is FULLY INSURED and we are no longer going to handle broken box insurance claims. We discovered that one buyer crushed their shipping box and asked for a hefty partial refund. The shipper sent us a picture of the box sitting at the front door and it was NOT CRUSHED? We also discovered that because we were NOT in possession of the box it was impossible for us to file the claim. So now and in the future all claims will be handled by the buyer of the hat or item we ship. Again we ALWAYS carefully pack each hat so it will not be crushed in a good strong shipping box. There are always some Bad Apples around who make everyone’s life impossible! It not fair to the rest of the GOOD FOLKS but it’s a fact of life these days! If you have any questions please write to us. Thank you for your understanding.
