Beautiful vintage Russian Matryoshka nesting doll set – five pieces – hand-painted, gold, and floral folk art
Offered is a charming, five piece Russian Matryoshka nesting doll set, featuring traditional Russian female figures in graduated sizes.
The largest doll measures approximately 3 inches tall, with four progressively smaller dolls nesting inside. Each figure features a distinctive hand painted face, traditional head scarf, and decorative folk art clothing.
The two larger dolls are particularly attractive, featuring an elegant cream, tan and gold color palette with floral and leaf decorations. The smaller dolls transition to a warm, reddish brown wood appearance accented with gold colored painted details.
The faces have expressive, stylized features characteristic of traditional Russian dolls, including painted eyes, eyelashes, rosy cheeks and red lips.
These beautiful Russian dolls were purchased in Russia during my travels approximately 35 years ago.
