1991 TOMY ACCURA — SEALED RIDE-ON ARCADE GAME WITH ORIGINAL OUTER CARTON
In 1985, Sega’s Hang-On stunned arcade players with a motorcycle-shaped machine they could climb aboard and steer with their bodies. In 1991, TOMY brought that same kind of excitement home for children with ACCURA: a full sit-on racing game with handlebars, a screen, body-controlled cornering, and a turbo feature. The Japanese box calls it a “body-sensation family arcade game.” One look at the photographs tells you why.
This ACCURA has never been opened. It remains sealed in its original Japanese-market retail box and includes its original outer cardboard shipping carton, also shown in the photos. In nearly 50 years of collecting and dealing in electronic games, I have never handled another in this condition. At the time of listing, I could find no other sealed example ever for sale anywhere in the world with its original outer carton.
This is the kind of piece a vintage gaming museum can build a display around. The enormous arcade-era box art shows a child riding a futuristic machine, while the unopened packaging preserves the experience exactly as a collector would hope to find it. You could open it to play—but doing so would permanently end its sealed condition. By purchasing this game you agree that there are no returns for any reason. If you open this and play it, you have ruined the value. For this example, preservation is the prize.
