A remarkable vintage W.B. Place & Co. Western jacket in richly grained brown deerskin. Made by the Hartford, Wisconsin company whose label proudly identifies it as "Deerskin Tanners — Gloves & Jackets," this is a substantial piece of American leatherwork with exceptional presence.
The heavy deerskin is covered in period Western detailing: cascading leather fringe across the front and back yokes, sleeves, four patch pockets and hem, plus contrasting leather lacing along the collar, yokes, cuffs and pockets. Finished with a heavy brass Talon zipper, hide/fur zipper pull and quilted lining.
Excellent vintage condition. The leather remains supple with beautiful natural grain and patina, while the extensive fringe is remarkably intact. A standout collector piece with the oversized proportions sought in Western, Americana and heritage wardrobes.
