This is a raised physical-relief globe — you can feel the 3D texture of mountain ranges and ocean depths — mounted on a full metal meridian ring with a clear lucite/acrylic square base.
A true Cold War-era piece: the map shows the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Leningrad, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, East and West Germany, \"Rumania,\" and West Samoa, dating it to approximately the 1960s. Great period detail including ocean currents, steamship routes, and a full biome/climate legend.
Condition: displays well in nice preowned condtion for the age, the lucite base has some surface scratches as you can see in the photos. The globe rotates on its axis and the meridian ring is intact
