Up for sale is an incredible, estate-found mega lot of vintage pre-war / WWII-era Tootsietoy diecast naval ships. This is a spectacular "instant collection" featuring a vast fleet of warships, cargo freighters, submarines, and midget escorts.
Most impressively, this collection includes the rare, original cardboard "ocean wave" display insert tray. These fragile cardboard playmats were almost always thrown away by children decades ago, making this a highly sought-after piece for a serious Tootsietoy collector looking to complete an original boxed set layout.

16 Larger Tootsietoy Warships & Freighters: Includes battleships, cargo freighters (featuring the classic #1038 Ocean Cargo Ship with red derricks), aircraft carriers with cast-on airplanes, and submarines.
13 Tootsietoy "Midget Navy" Fleet Escorts: Miniature solid-cast unpainted metal vessels, perfect auxiliary/escort companion pieces.
1 Original Cardboard Wave Display Tray: The vintage backdrop insert used to display the fleet.
Condition Notes (Please Read & See Photos):
This collection is in honest, played-with vintage condition, showing great character and paint wear typical of 80 to 90-year-old diecast toys.
The Good: Many of the highly fragile red cargo masts on the freighters remain completely intact. The cardboard display tray is in solid, identifiable shape with bright graphics. All wheels are intact and working.
The Flaws: Due to the age and brittleness of vintage pot-metal, a few ships show structural wear. Specifically, there are a couple of broken/missing smokestacks and broken red derrick mast tips (please see the provided close-up photos for exact details).
This lot is being sold exactly as found and as-is. Please review all photos carefully as they form the primary part of the description.
