This piece is a 1940s Sterling Silver Gold Plated Grape Cluster & Leaf Dress/Fur Clip, designed by Alfred Philippe for Trifari.
Description & Design Details
- Design Concept: A dimensional motif featuring a grape leaf alongside a clustered bunch of grapes.
Stones:
- Grapes: Smooth, opalescent glass cabochons imitating moonstones
- Accents: Small round ruby-red glass rhinestone accents nestled between the grapes, along with clear round rhinestones set along the stem, curled tendril, and lower leaf base
- Metalwork: Crafted in Sterling Silver finished with a gold vermeil plating, typical of WW2-era Trifari production when base metals were restricted.
- Mechanism: Backed with a double-prong dress clip (fur clip) frame.
Signatures/Marks: stamped on the reverse with TRIFARI, accompanied by the Crown.
- Height (Length): Approx. 2.25 inches to 2.5 inches (5.7 cm to 6.4 cm)
- Width: Approx. 1.5 inches to 1.75 inches (3.8 cm to 4.4 cm) at the widest point across the leaf and grape cluster.
