Original WWII-era U.S. Army Air Forces Air Transport Command (ATC) First Sergeant uniform jacket, size 40L, professionally tailored from an enlisted man’s service coat into the popular short “Ike” style, a documented period practice during the later years of WWII. The jacket retains its First Sergeant chevrons, Air Transport Command insignia, collar discs, ribbon bar, qualification badge, and Honorable Discharge “Ruptured Duck” emblem, with distinctive tailored details including the adjustable waist and brass buckle. The interior construction and lining clearly reflect the extensive tailoring involved in the conversion, while the jacket retains its original 40L size marking. An interesting example of a privately tailored WWII USAAF uniform associated with the Air Transport Command. Shows expected age and service wear, including wear and damage near the waist adjustment as pictured.
