This is a very striking 4" x 5 1/4" certificate printed on heavy card stock showing a full length photo of a 1914 Bleriot on the ground as well as two additional b&w photos of the plane.
Attached to the left side of the front of this certificate is a genuine 1/2" x 1/2" piece of the original fabric from the 1914 Bleriot XI. This was removed by the Smithsonian during a renovation.
The Bleriot XI was the most famous and successful of several classic airplanes of its time.
An earlier model of the Bleriot was the first airplane to cross the English Channel in 1909.
On the back of the certificate are three more photos of the 1914 Bleriot including one hanging from the ceiling in the Smithsonian after its renovation.
This is a beautiful piece and a terrific conversation item.
