97 pieces, approximately 104 Troy ounces of .925 sterling silver.
PLEASEtake the time to review these IMPORTANT comments. I'll be happy to provide more clarity if needed.
- I included an inventory that will be useful and hopefully answer questions you may have. It is a screen capture from an Excel spreadsheet and may be viewed in the photo section.
- HOLLOW HANDLE pieces (knives, serving sets, et al.)ARE included in total number of pieces, butare NOT included in total weight. The hollow handles do contain .925 sterling, and ONE of the serving knives has 'STERLING' mechanically engraved on its blade. So, the knives do have intrinsic value insterling silver.
- Price does NOT include the wooden storage box NOR the Tiffany storage cloth seen in the first photo.
This antique estate set is genuine Gorham Hanover, heirloom quality, and purchased new by my great-grandfather c. 1898. Each piece is true to form without distortion, except one of the teaspoons has a few nicks around its bowl (see photo). With a few exceptions, most have a brilliant luster.
Background: This entire set was owned by my family since new. It remained in their Manhattan, NY estate on the Upper East Side until the Great Depression when it was moved to their summer home in Larchmont Manor, NY. In 1952 the 3rd generation family member moved to Pelham NY immediately after he returned from the Korean War. It remained with him until 2008 when he passed, then came into my possession. I can vouch that since I've owned the set, they've never been used nor cleaned with any solvents.
AI description: "Gorham Hanover sterling silver flatware, introduced in 1895 and produced until 1991, is highly ornate, Victorian-style pattern. It features intricate floral and scrollwork designs, a slightly flared handle tip, and often includes specialized serving pieces—some even featuring gold-washed or enameled bowls".
