This one is much more interesting than a generic gold-tone ballerina necklace. The clasp/end finding has stamped “14K”, and in another photograph “ITALY” on the adjoining finding. The tiny emblem beside the clasp may be a maker’s mark. These markings are exactly where one would expect them on an Italian-made gold chain. The pendant itself also has a small 14K-type marking on the reverse. This was purchased for a young aspiring ballerina and is therefore very dainty, weighing only 2.10g.
The chain looks like a very fine herringbone/serpentine-style chain, roughly 18 inches from the ruler photograph. The ballerina itself is rather charming. It is a pierced, textured figure in an arabesque/overhead-arm pose, approximately 1½–1¾ inches long including the bail, judging from the ruler. It looks older rather than contemporary mass-market jewelry—possibly late 20th century—and the hand-cut/openwork detailing gives it more personality than many modern stamped ballerina charms.2.10 g of 14K gold for the complete ballerina necklace, containing approximately 1.20g of pure gold.At today’s reported gold price, its calculated gold value is about $164.00.
