This rare 18th-century theological compendium, or Sammelband, features three distinct works by the celebrated German Hebraist Johann Simonis, printed in 1766 by the prominent Halle Orphanage Press (Sumtibus Orphanotrophei). The volume contains his complete \"Dictionarium Veteris Testamenti Hebraeo-Chaldaicum,\" alongside two companion treatises: the \"Analysis et Explicatio Lectionum Masorethicarum\" and the \"Explicatio Epicriseon Masorethicarum.\" Designed for Enlightenment-era scholars, these texts provide a comprehensive lexicon of the Old Testament combined with exhaustive guides to decoding the Masoretic text, including Kethiv and Qere word variations, marginal symbols, and biblical verse statistics. The typography beautifully blends Latin text with detailed Hebrew script, accented by elegant Baroque woodcut title vignettes and decorative tailpieces. In terms of condition, the exterior binding is in fair antiquarian state, exhibiting heavy historical wear, rubbing, and scuffing to the paper-covered boards, along with a vellum spine that has flattened and faded naturally over the centuries. However, the interior text block remains in very good condition, offering exceptionally clean, crisp, and tightly bound pages with minimal foxing. Adding to its unique historical character, the inner leaves feature authentic handwritten ink provenance markings from early owners, including a prominent acquisition date of 1787. This complete 3-in-1 volume serves as a wonderful specimen of 18th-century biblical scholarship, perfect for collectors of rare theology and antiquarian books.
