18-Coin Journey Through American Coinage
This carefully assembled collection traces more than a century of United States coinage through 18 vintage and modern coins, beginning with an 1885-S Morgan silver dollar and continuing through the Peace dollar, classic Barber coinage, Walking Liberty, Standing Liberty, Buffalo, Mercury and other landmark American designs.
Unlike an ordinary accumulation of mixed coins, this group was assembled to show the changing face of American money. Together, the coins reflect the nation’s transition from the ornate Liberty designs of the late 19th century to the presidential and symbolic designs familiar to later generations.
The Highlight: 1885-S Morgan Silver Dollar
The centerpiece is an 1885-S Morgan silver dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint. With a reported mintage of 1,497,000, the 1885-S is a much scarcer issue than the commonly encountered 1885 Philadelphia and New Orleans Morgan dollars.
The coin displays bright surfaces, strong visible detail and scattered contact marks consistent with an older raw coin. It has not been professionally graded, and no numerical grade is being claimed.

The Wartime Silver Nickel
The 1943-P Jefferson nickel represents an unusual chapter in American coinage. During World War II, nickel was needed for the war effort, so the United States Mint temporarily changed the coin’s composition to an alloy containing 35% silver.
The large P mintmark above Monticello identifies this coin as a wartime silver issue struck at the Philadelphia Mint.
Silver Content
Thirteen of the 18 coins contain silver.
Twelve coins were struck in 90% silver:
- Two silver dollars
- Four silver half dollars
- Three silver quarters
- Three silver dimes
The 1943-P wartime Jefferson nickel was struck in an alloy containing 35% silver.
Together, the 13 silver-bearing coins had an original combined silver specification of approximately 3.81 troy ounces of actual silver, before normal circulation wear.
Condition
The collection is uncertified and contains coins in mixed condition. Some pieces are strongly detailed and bright, while others show circulation wear, toning, marks, discoloration or surface irregularities.
No numerical grades are claimed. Please examine all photographs carefully and form your own opinion regarding condition and value.
