A complete four-volume antique set, published in Liverpool by Nuttall, Fisher and Dixon in 1811. This is the New Edition, Improved – Stereotype Edition, illustrated throughout with period engraved plates and frontispieces.
An impressive early 19th-century natural history work covering the natural world, animals, birds, marine life and other subjects, accompanied by fascinating engraved illustrations.
The four volumes are bound in period half leather with marbled boards and gilt decoration and numbering to the spines. The bindings display considerable age-related wear, rubbing and deterioration consistent with books more than 200 years old.
Condition: Volumes 1–3 remain structurally together with general wear, foxing, staining and age toning throughout. Volume 4 has the front board completely detached but present, as clearly shown in the photographs. There is additional wear to the leather, corners, edges and spines across the set.
The books are sold in their present antique condition. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an essential part of the condition description.
