The long ivory silk cord terminates at each end in an intricate openwork section and sculptural silk-covered form, followed by wonderfully full clustered tassels made from numerous individually worked silk elements. The construction is remarkably detailed and delicate, and the silk remains exceptionally soft and supple in the hand.
Originally intended as a dress belt or waist cord, it is a beautiful surviving piece of Victorian dress ornament. It would also be striking worn today as an antique fashion accessory or incorporated into bridal or wedding styling.

Condition:
Beautiful antique pre-owned condition, especially considering its age. The silk cord remains soft and supple, with expected age-related wear including scattered fraying, loosened threads, and some discoloration/patina to the ivory silk. The tassels remain remarkably full and intact. Please review all photographs closely, as they form part of the condition description.
