An especially nice piece of provenance is the handwritten presentation inscription on the front blank page, dated December 10, 1881.

Condition:
Antique condition with substantial exterior wear consistent with its approximately 145-year age. Leather along the spine and edges shows heavy rubbing, surface loss and deterioration, with damage at the upper spine and corners. Covers show considerable wear.
Interior is considerably better preserved than the exterior, with expected age toning, foxing and occasional spotting. Illustrations and color maps remain attractive and display well. Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the condition description.
