This is the 3rd edition of Baedeker\'s United States in English, from 1904. I contains all 25 maps and 35 plans. Some of the foldout maps have minor tears and some have minor repairs. It is in good condition with some wear. One page is ripped.The 100 page introductory essay covering history, geography, climate of the continent, is followed by 516 pages ending with the general US map.
Fascinating to read some 120 years later. For example, in the discussion about San Francisco: \"Earthquakes occur occasionally in San Francisco but are never very descructive.\" Two years later, 1906, nearly all of the city was destroyed by an earthquake.
This book gives some insight into the attitudes of the European (especially the British) traveler towards the US. It also describes a world that no longer exists.
