Beautiful antique 1907 hardcover edition of Little Men: Life at Plumfield with Jo’s Boys by Louisa M. Alcott, author of the classic Little Women. Published in Boston by Little, Brown, and Company.
Originally published in 1871, Little Men continues the story of Jo March and follows life at Plumfield, the school Jo and her husband operate for boys. This 1907 edition is now nearly 120 years old and features an attractive dark green cloth-covered hardcover with decorative embossed detailing, gilt/gold spine accents, period typography, illustrations, and an original tissue guard protecting the front illustration.
Antique pre-owned condition with visible wear consistent with age. The green cloth covers show rubbing, scuffs, edge and corner wear, and wear at the top and bottom of the spine. Pages show expected age toning and occasional spotting.
The binding shows age-related weakness and separation at both the front and rear inner hinge/endpaper areas. The section near the illustrated frontispiece and tissue guard is becoming loose/separated at the gutter but remains present. The rear inner hinge also has visible separation. The book remains together overall, but these areas should be handled carefully due to the age of the binding.
No modern repairs have been made to the binding.
Please review all photos carefully, particularly the close-up photographs of the front and rear hinge areas, as they are an important part of the condition description.
A wonderful authentic antique copy for a Louisa May Alcott collector, Little Women enthusiast, antique book collection, vintage library display, or decorative bookshelf.
