Antique A.G. Spalding & Bros. Frank M. Schulte “Autograph” model baseball bat, dating approximately to the 1910s.Full-size bat measures approximately 34 1/2 inches long.The center area retains the Spalding markings and the Frank M. Schulte facsimile autograph/signature branding. The knob retains the early circular Spalding trademark stamp.Frank “Wildfire” Schulte was a star outfielder for the Chicago Cubs during the Deadball Era and won the 1911 National League Chalmers Award/MVP. Spalding offered Schulte signature-model bats in its period sporting-goods catalogs.Condition: This bat is more than 100 years old and shows substantial age, wear and use. There are scratches, finish loss, discoloration, surface wear and areas of wood loss, particularly on the barrel. Two holes have been drilled through the knob, apparently at some point in the bat’s history; their original purpose is unknown.
