This is a 1930s J.S. Gree restrike lithograph of Ettore Tito’s famous 1927 series of four proverbial lithographs. The words underneath the image of a sleek woman searching her husband’s jacket for proof of his infidelity translate to “Spoken words fly away; written words remain”.
In America, these lithographs were produced by W.C., Inc. in Bay Shore, New York. The image size is 6x8 inches and the lithograph has been matted to 11x14 inches. It is in amazing condition for its age but the white paper exposed to light has slightly tanned over the decades (see photo). The thin cardboard backing has some tape residue around the edges.
