Original typed business letter dated October 23, 1933, on Philip Morris & Co., Ltd. Pacific Coast Office letterhead from San Francisco, California.
The letter is addressed to Walter Gerber of Portland, Oregon, and discusses a recently purchased 1931 Pontiac sedan. The writer, identifying himself as the previous owner, states the automobile had no wrecks or accidents, notes that it received three valve grinds, estimates mileage at approximately 49,000 miles, and assures the buyer that he has “purchased a mighty fine car.”
An excellent piece of Depression-era automotive history documenting the sale and condition of a used Pontiac years before modern vehicle history reports.
