Offered for sale is a beautiful and authentic vintage British cut crystal decanter by the renowned luxury silversmith Mappin & Webb Ltd.Dating to 1943, this elegant decanter features a substantial pear/teardrop-shaped cut crystal body decorated with deep geometric diamond, cross-hatched, and starburst-style cutting that beautifully catches and reflects the light. The neck is finished with a solid sterling silver collar engraved with a classic serif capital letter “L.”British Sterling Silver HallmarksThe silver collar is clearly hallmarked with:• M&W – Maker’s mark for Mappin & Webb Ltd.

• Date Letter “t” – Dating the silver to 1943This makes the piece an especially interesting example of British silver and crystal craftsmanship produced during the World War II era.Fitted Numbered StopperThe beautifully facet-cut pointed/spire stopper fits securely into the neck. The base of the stopper is hand-engraved with the matching/fitting number “14,” indicating that it was individually ground and fitted to the decanter.ConditionVery good to excellent vintage condition for its age.The crystal remains bright and attractive with no cracks or major chips noted. There is some light staining / residue visible inside the bottom of the decanter, along with minor shelf wear to the base consistent with age and use (see photos).The sterling silver collar remains securely attached and is structurally sound. It displays natural aged patina, light tarnish, and minor surface wear consistent with an authentic piece more than 80 years old. No major dents or tears noted.
