1971-S Eisenhower (Ike) Dollar – Proof
40% Silver Clad
This is the first-year San Francisco Mint proof issue struck in 40% silver (approximately 0.316 oz pure silver). It features the classic Frank Gasparro design: Dwight D. Eisenhower on the obverse and the Apollo 11 eagle-on-the-moon reverse.
The coin remains in its original U.S. Mint plastic display holder (black insert with “Eisenhower / United States Proof Dollar” lettering and stars, marked “PACKAGED BY U.S. MINT”). This is the individual proof packaging used for the silver issues (commonly called a Brown Ike when complete with the outer box).
