Hello dear customers,
Up for sale is a rare antique 19th-century Ottoman Turkish Tophane ware pottery coffee cup, dating to the early to mid-19th century.
This beautiful and unusual example features an embossed Ottoman Sultan\'s Tughra seal, accompanied by decorative crescent and star motifs.
Of particular interest is the ornamental band running around the upper rim of the cup, featuring an intricate inscription in Ottoman script, possibly containing blessings or a special religious or ceremonial text. Unfortunately, I have been unable to translate the inscription from Ottoman Turkish.
In my opinion, this is a particularly rare example of Tophane pottery, especially with such an extensive decorative inscription around the upper rim.
The cup is excellently preserved for its age, with no chips or cracks.
Found at an estate sale in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Please note: The sale is for the coffee cup only, without a saucer.
Please carefully examine all photographs, as they form an important part of the item description.

Overall width, including handle: 3\"
