This uncommon collector\'s floating fern produces exceptionally large, elongated leaves featuring a distinct ribbed, grid-like texture coated in water-repellent surface hairs. It is the largest of all in the Salvinia genus.
Unlike small floating plants that can easily clutter your aquarium or clog filter skimmers, this species grows in large, manageable mats. Below the surface, it drops long, feathery root structures that absorb excess nutrients while offering an ideal nursery shelter and grazing habitat for shrimp and baby fry.
