2009 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Big Patch Match Up Rookie #RM-FD -- Josh Freeman (Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB #5) and Nate Davis (San Francisco 49ers QB #7), serial numbered 42/50. Double-fronted card with a patch window for each player, sold together with its matching Certificate of Authentication card. No autographs.
Set details: 2009 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection, \"Big Patch Match Up Rookie\" insert, card #RM-FD, serial numbered 42/50. Sport: Football. League: National Football League (NFL). Manufacturer: Upper Deck. Original licensed product, printed in United States.
Card back / certificate: The patch card itself carries no certificate text -- it lives on the separate COA card, which is included and reads: \"CONGRATULATIONS! You have received a trading card with Event-Worn memorabilia of Josh Freeman and Nate Davis. The memorabilia has been certified to us as having been used at the NFL Rookie Photo Shoot. Please keep this Certificate of Authenticity (COA) as verification of your Memorabilia trading card. This COA is manufactured with anti-counterfeit technology...\" -- signed Richard P. McWilliam, The Upper Deck Company. So the material is Rookie Photo Shoot worn, not game-used, and the COA says so in its own words. The COA carries hologram UDC166504, which matches the hologram on the patch card exactly.
Appearance detail: IMPORTANT -- this pair is damaged and priced/photographed as such. On the Nate Davis side there are two distinct white gouges of surface paper loss in the gold field above the helmet, plus white chipping and delamination running the full top edge and part of the left edge. The COA card has surface paper loss torn away at its top-right corner exposing the white core, extending along the top edge and down the right edge. The damage on both sits in the same region, consistent with the two having been stuck together and separated. The Josh Freeman side is clean apart from one tiny white nick at the top-left corner tip. No creases. Both raw, no holder. Patches themselves are undamaged: Freeman\'s is four colors (white, black/navy, orange and red) with two red embroidered zig-zag seams; Davis\'s is three colors (cream perforated mesh, black and red) in vertical bands.
Worth knowing: TWO PHYSICAL CARDS, ONE LISTING: the patch card and its Certificate of Authentication share hologram UDC166504, and the COA is the only place the memorabilia certification appears, so they sell together.
Player career: Freeman was Tampa Bay\'s 17th overall pick in 2009 and broke out in 2010 with 3,451 yards, 25 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions, leading the Buccaneers to a 10-6 record; he finished with 13,873 passing yards and 81 touchdowns. Davis was the 2008 MAC Offensive Player of the Year and set Ball State\'s career passing records before San Francisco took him in the fifth round, though he never appeared in an NFL regular-season game; he went on to a decorated indoor-football career, winning Offensive Player of the Year in both the CIF and IFL.
