2015 Trek Boone Cyclocross Bike, Size 58, Tubulars, Great Condition For Sale

You are offerding on a used custom built 2015 Trek Boone 5, size 58, cantilever brakes, with a fully upgraded parts kit. Very light at 16.5 lbs (measured with pedals and bottle cage). I purchased this new as a complete bike, stripped the stock parts, then professionally built up with upgraded parts. This bike is well cared for and has barely been ridden since 2019 when I stopped racing cross (Covid Pandemic shut that door after 30 years).
Packaged with superlight alloy race tubular wheelset and very good condition set of tubular tires.

USE/HISTORY DESCRIPTION:
Aside from a handful of short nostalgic road rides, this bike has been lonely while hanging on the garage wall collecting dust for most of the past 6-7 years. While most people have moved on to disc brake equipped bikes (or gravel), this one still has plenty of capability available for a good rider. In his later racing years, World Champion Sven Nys certainly had no problems racing this same bike setup to the top step of the podium, race after race on the World Cup circuit.
I trained on a different bike, so this one mainly saw racing miles only. I always kept my machines running like new because I needed to be able to trust my equipment for every hard acceleration; only then could I confidently rely on it to handle the watts I applied with full effort.
The IsoSpeed seatmast system is really comfortable, offering just enough flex to dampen the bumps without any reduction in frame stiffness where it matters. Every time I pick up a newer cx bike, I am amazed by how much heavier and expensive they seem. This one has cantilever brakes, but that won\'t hold you back, especially for dry courses. The last season I raced, I actually bought a new Trek Crocket alloy disc cx bike and though the braking power was a little better, the heavier weight was more of a negative tradeoff in my opinion. The bike I am selling here was my primary race bike and the disc brake equipped one was my pit bike.
There are two cosmetic paint blemish/chips on both sides of head tube from impact with the fork mount cable hanger (when you turn the handlebar too far beyond 90 deg, it will make contact with frame). I don\'t recall ever having a major crash so this must have happened while shouldering the bike or from contact with other riders while in the heat of the battle. There are the normal small signs of wear and tear on the paint (small chips and scuffs), but it\'s actually in remarkably good shape, aside from those two dings on the head tube. Nice and shiny!

Frame: 600 Series OCLV Carbon with a rear IsoSpeed decoupler and Ride-Tuned seatmast, BB90, internal control routing.

Fork: Trek IsoSpeed Cross carbon with an E2 tapered steerer. Plenty of extra uncut steerer tube length for your setup preferences.

Rear Spacing: 130mm old-standard QR spacing (unlike the 135mm disc version).

Color: Onyx Carbon/True Blue/Trek White (it looks blue on one side and white on the other).

Glued to rims with Vittoria Mastik One tubular glue (recommend that you reglue these before racing due to the length of time that has passed since using, to reduce risks of tires rolling off in sharp braking turns).
