Since 1987, the Royal Mint began producing gold bullion coins featuring Britannia, the personification of Britain and an icon of maritime sovereignty, the grand protector of the nation’s shores from oppression. This 2023 1/10 oz Gold Britannia is very limited, as it is the final Britannia coin to feature an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. Queen Elizabeth died in October of 2022. The Royal Mint had produced a limited number of coins with her effigy on the obverse and decided to release them in 2023. These coins are rare and very desirable by bullion and numismatic collectors.
This landmark piece has been certified by ANACS to be in perfect MS70 First Strike, and has a label with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, honoring the longest reigning British monarch, to tie together the showstopping end to the series featuring her effigy.
