Struck for the 150th anniversary of the force that became the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Parliament passed the act establishing the North-West Mounted Police on 23 May 1873; it was renamed the RCMP in 1920. The reverse, by Steve Hepburn, is a colour portrait of an RCMP officer in red serge standing beside her Hanoverian horse against an engraved mountain backdrop, with the colour applied over the relief rather than onto a flat field, and it is double-dated 1873-2023. The obverse carries Susanna Blunt\'s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the memorial marking of four pearls, one for each effigy to have appeared on Canadian coinage, and the double date of her reign. Struck in 31.39 g of 99.99% pure silver to a proof finish, 38 mm across, and limited to a worldwide mintage of 7,500.
