2023 Pokemon SVP EN-SV Black Star Promo #085 Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat PSA 10 Gem Mint
This is the iconic Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat promo card from the Scarlet & Violet SVP Black Star Promotional series, released as part of the historic Pokemon x Van Gogh Museum collaboration. It is professionally graded PSA 10 Gem Mint, the highest possible grade.
Set Background: This card was created to celebrate the 170th anniversary of Vincent van Gogh's birth and the 50th anniversary of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam . The card was distributed at the Van Gogh Museum starting September 28, 2023, through the "Pokemon Adventure" activity. Visitors received an activity leaflet and were guided through the museum to learn about various Van Gogh artworks and the "Pokemon at the Van Gogh Museum" pieces inspired by them. Upon completing the activity, participants could exchange their leaflet for the promo card . The distribution was suspended on October 14, 2023, due to safety and security concerns after crowds overwhelmed the museum . The card later saw a Netherlands-only retail re-release starting February 10, 2024, requiring a minimum purchase of €29.99 on Pokemon TCG products at participating retailers, with a limit of one card per person per purchase .
Art & Design: The illustration by Naoyo Kimura is directly inspired by Vincent van Gogh's iconic 1887 painting, Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat . This fusion of classical fine art and Pokemon's most recognizable mascot created one of the most culturally significant promotional cards in modern TCG history. The artwork is one of six pieces created for the "Pokemon x Van Gogh" collaboration, though the other five were not printed onto cards . As an English-only SVP promo, no Japanese-language print of this card is documented .
