  Removal

  • Remove the bolt securing the front wheel speed sensor, then separate the sensor from the steering knuckle.
  • Remove the brake caliper torque member bolts, keeping the brake hose connected. Use a piece of wire to hang the caliper in a safe position to avoid damage or hose tension.
  • Mark alignment indicators on both the disc brake rotor and the wheel hub and bearing for reinstallation reference, then remove the disc brake rotor.
  • Remove the cotter pin and the nut retainer from the wheel hub lock nut. Use a power tool to loosen the wheel hub lock nut on the drive shaft.
  • Place a piece of wood against the lock nut and tap it gently with a suitable tool to help disengage the drive shaft from the wheel hub and bearing.
  • Remove the engine side cover to access related components.
  • Remove the lower nut and bolt from the steering knuckle, then separate the transverse link from the knuckle.
  • Fully separate the drive shaft from the wheel hub and bearing assembly, then secure the drive shaft aside with wire to prevent damage.
  • Use a power tool to remove the bolts that secure the wheel hub and bearing to the steering knuckle.
  • Remove the splash guard, then pull the wheel hub and bearing assembly off the steering
  • Clean the mating surfaces of the steering knuckle and the new wheel hub and bearing. Apply lubricant to the specified surface of the joint sub-assembly.
  • Install the splash guard and the new wheel hub and bearing assembly onto the steering knuckle.
  • Install and hand-tighten the wheel hub and bearing bolts, then torque them to the manufacturer’s specification.
  • Reposition the drive shaft into the wheel hub and bearing. Use a piece of wood and a suitable tool to tap the lock nut area to seat the drive shaft properly. Secure the drive shaft in place.
  • Install the transverse link to the steering knuckle, then reinstall and torque the lower nut and bolt to specification.
  • Reinstall the engine side cover.
  • Install the wheel hub lock nut onto the drive shaft. Hold the wheel hub and bearing with a suitable tool, then use a torque wrench to tighten the lock nut to the specified torque. Do not use power tools for final tightening.
  • Install a new nut retainer and a new cotter pin. Securely bend the cotter pin to prevent rattling.
  • Align the matching marks on the disc brake rotor with those on the wheel hub and bearing, then install the disc brake rotor.
  • Reposition the brake caliper, then install and torque the brake caliper torque member bolts to specification.
  • Reconnect the front wheel speed sensor to the steering knuckle and secure it with the bolt.
  • Reinstall the wheel assembly, then torque the lug nuts in a star pattern to specification.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground, then perform a road test to check for noise, vibration, and proper brake/ABS function.
