This is a vintage CITIZEN "VEGA" all-stainless steel digital watch, believed to have been manufactured in July 1980. The case back is engraved with According to Citizen's serial numbering rules at the time, the first three digits "007" indicate the end of the year, specifically July, and this matches the dating records for this model number, so it can be determined to have been manufactured in July 1980. Today, it's a watch that gives a glimpse into the early days of Japanese digital watches, approximately 46 years ago.
This watch boasts a retro-futuristic 80s design, combining a brown-to-bronze face with a silver-colored square case and a delicate multi-link metal bracelet. The sophisticated black, brown, and silver color scheme, the integrated bracelet with the square case, and the function indicators on the front create a mechanical feel not found in current models. The dial features "ALARM/CHRONOGRAPH 1/100" markings, indicating that it is a multi-functional quartz watch equipped with a 1/100-second chronograph, alarm, hourly chime, calendar, and light. The buckle also bears the "VEGA" engraving, and the fact that the matching bracelet remains is another attractive feature for vintage enthusiasts. The brown version is rarer than other models of this type, making it a highly collectible color.
The LCD display was checked at the time of photography. The case, crystal, case back, and bracelet show wear, scratches, and signs of use commensurate with their age.
