Beautiful vintage Italian mare and nursing foal sculpture by A. Santini, model #2049.
The detailed composition depicts a standing mare with her foal nursing beneath her, rendered in rich brown tones with finely modeled musculature, tack, facial features, mane, and coat detail. The sculpture is mounted on a substantial polished wooden display base.
The original hang tag is still present and reads “Modello dello Scultore A. Santini” with the Santini “S” Capodimonte mark. The reverse identifies the piece as Made in Italy and describes it as completely finished and hand-painted in the traditional Italian Capodimonte style.
A particularly nice example for collectors of A. Santini, Italian art sculpture, equestrian decor, horses, or vintage Capodimonte-style figurines.
