of superb measure! An authentic Apache papoose & doll from
Arizona during the mid-twentieth century!
These rare, coveted & iconic pieces of history serve not only as
testimony to the Apache ingenuity, artistic and engineering skills,
but to the love of their children.This artifact is in breathtaking condition! Preserved by the dry
desert environment, the wood, hides, bead work and doll
are still clean & vivid in appearance.This has the Apache dangling beads that entertained babies
while their mother\'s worked. But these are special indeed and
perhaps make this Apache child\'s toy all the more historic
and significant. Upon these beads are early 20th century
\"Cowboy and Indian\" plastic toys. Clearly treasured objects
its young creator had acquired. The social & historic implications
of an Apache child of the 20th century placing a cowboy on one side
and an Indian wielding a shield and spear on the other is
almost too much to reconcile! There are also two plastic deer
and a rare seashell, found in the Arizona desert from the
prehistoric times when the area was under water!
That an Apache girl valued all these and included them
in her papoose is a small, yet significant, footnote to
the History of the Apache and the Old West.This incredible treasure would be the highlight of any
