AMERICAN GRAFFITIOriginal 1973 Soundtrack LP — Signed by 12 Cast & Crew ✓ 100% Positive response ⭐ 261 Positive Reviews 🏛 Member 26 Years “Where Were You in ’62?” — Professionally Framed & AuthenticatedABOUT THIS EXTRAORDINARY PIECE
Offered here is a truly spectacular piece of Hollywood history: the original 1973 MCA Records soundtrack LP for American Graffiti — “41 Original Hits from the Sound Track of American Graffiti” — signed by twelve members of the cast and crew, beautifully presented in a museum-quality custom frame measuring approximately 33.5” × 30”.
George Lucas’s landmark 1973 coming-of-age film was made on a shoestring budget of just $777,000 and went on to gross over $200 million worldwide, earning five Academy Award nominations including Best Picture. Set over a single summer night in 1962 Modesto, California, the film launched the careers of some of the biggest names in entertainment history and remains one of the most profitable films ever produced relative to its budget. The soundtrack album itself was a chart-topping phenomenon, reaching #10 on the Billboard 200 and achieving triple platinum certification.
This particular framed piece features the album cover signed by twelve principals, accompanied by a movie poster reproduction, a beautiful photograph of Mel’s Drive-In (the iconic setting from the film), and an engraved nameplate identifying all signers. The vinyl record itself is displayed within the frame, partially emerging from the sleeve in classic LP fashion with the MCA Records rainbow label visible.
THE TWELVE SIGNERS
This album cover bears the authenticated signatures of twelve individuals who made American Graffiti an enduring classic. The film was released on August 11, 1973. Below is a comprehensive guide to every signer on this piece:

Four of the twelve signers are now deceased — Cindy Williams, Bo Hopkins, Suzanne Somers, and producer Gary Kurtz — making this already extraordinary piece increasingly rare and historically significant with each passing year. It is extraordinarily uncommon to find a single item bearing the signatures of this many principals from the film, let alone one that includes both the director George Lucas and producer Gary Kurtz alongside ten cast members.
SIGNER HIGHLIGHTS
Ron Howard added his character name inscription along with his signature. Already known as a child star from The Andy Griffith Show, Howard was just 18 when he was cast as Steve Bolander. The film’s success directly led ABC to greenlight Happy Days as a full series, and Howard went on to become one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed directors, winning two Academy Awards for A Beautiful Mind (Best Picture and Best Director). His career spans over six decades with hits including Splash, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Harrison Ford played Bob Falfa, the cocky drag racer who challenges John Milner. At the time, Ford was largely unknown and still working as a carpenter between acting jobs. American Graffiti helped keep him on George Lucas’s radar, and four years later Lucas would cast him as Han Solo in Star Wars, launching one of the most iconic careers in film history. Ford went on to become Indiana Jones and star in Blade Runner, The Fugitive, and countless other blockbusters, becoming the highest-grossing domestic box office star in history.
Richard Dreyfuss delivered a brilliant performance as Curt Henderson, the introspective graduate torn between leaving for college and staying in his hometown. It was his breakout role, and within a few years Dreyfuss would become a household name in Jaws (1975) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Goodbye Girl (1977) — making him the only American Graffiti cast member to win an acting Oscar.
Cindy Williams signed with her distinctive flowing script along with the inscription “Love.” She played Laurie Henderson, Steve’s girlfriend who spends the night wrestling with whether to let him go. Williams earned a BAFTA nomination for the role, and Francis Ford Coppola, who helped produce the film, cast her in The Conversation the following year. Her guest appearances on Happy Days led directly to eight seasons starring as Shirley Feeney on Laverne & Shirley, one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history. Williams passed away on January 25, 2023 at the age of 75.
Candy Clark signed and added her character name “Debbie” beneath her signature. Her performance as the exuberant Debbie Dunham earned her the film’s only acting Oscar nomination — Best Supporting Actress — and she remains one of the most fondly remembered characters from the film. Clark went on to star opposite David Bowie in The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) and has worked steadily in film and television throughout her career.
Paul Le Mat signed his name with the inscription “Milner” — a reference to his iconic character John Milner, the hot-rod king with “the fastest car in the valley.” The character was partially based on George Lucas’s own teenage street-racing days. Le Mat received a Golden Globe nomination for the role, which was named after Lucas’s friend, screenwriter John Milius. Le Mat had served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was working as a boxer when he landed the part. He later earned a Golden Globe Award for the TV miniseries The Burning Bed (1984).
Charles Martin Smith played Terry “The Toad” Fields, the lovably awkward teenager — a character Lucas has acknowledged was a stand-in for himself. Just 19 at the time of filming, Smith went on to appear in The Untouchables, The Buddy Holly Story, Never Cry Wolf, and Starman. He has since built a substantial career as a director, helming films like the Air Bud and Dolphin Tale franchises.
Mackenzie Phillips was just 12 years old when a casting agent saw her band perform and invited her to audition, making her the youngest cast member. The spirited, raspy-voiced daughter of John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas played sassy preteen Carol Morrison, who winds up riding shotgun with a mortified (and eventually charmed) John Milner. Phillips later starred on the hit sitcom One Day at a Time.
Bo Hopkins played Joe Young, the menacing leader of the Pharaohs car gang. A veteran character actor known for his “good old boy” persona and wild-eyed gaze, Hopkins appeared in over 100 films, including Sam Peckinpah’s The Wild Bunch, The Getaway, and Midnight Express. His final film role was in Hillbilly Elegy (2020), directed by his American Graffiti co-star Ron Howard. Hopkins passed away on May 28, 2022 at the age of 84.
Suzanne Somers made a lasting impression with very little screen time as the mysterious and alluring “Blonde in T-Bird,” the unattainable figure who captivates Curt Henderson throughout the night. The role became iconic cinematic shorthand for youthful longing. Somers became a major television star as Chrissy Snow on Three’s Company and later as Carol Lambert on Step by Step, as well as a bestselling author and entrepreneur. She passed away on October 15, 2023 at the age of 76, one day before her 77th birthday.
George Lucas signed with his characteristically minimal autograph. As the film’s director and co-writer, Lucas drew from his own teenage years cruising the streets of Modesto, California in the early 1960s to create this semi-autobiographical masterpiece. The film’s extraordinary commercial success gave Lucas the freedom and the financing to develop his next project — a little space opera called Star Wars (1977), which would change cinema forever. Lucas is one of the most significant filmmakers of the 20th century and the founder of Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic, and THX.
Gary Kurtz was the film’s producer, and his signature on this piece (he often inscribed “Producer” alongside it) represents the crucial behind-the-scenes leadership that brought American Graffiti to the screen. Kurtz went on to produce Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980), as well as Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal (1982). His parting of ways with Lucas after Empire is one of Hollywood’s most discussed creative splits. Kurtz passed away on September 23, 2018 at the age of 78.
