An unusual piece of early New England history combining his reverse-glass silhouette portrait with a poem he personally wrote and signed.

The handwritten verse reads:
Salem May 16th 1805
Benja. Rollins
is my name and english
is my nation Salem is
dwelling Place and christ
is Salvation when i am dead
and buryed and all my bon-
es rotten and this you see
remember me and never
let me be forgotten

The silhouette and original handwritten verse are displayed together in a later frame marked 1784–1881, corresponding to Benjamin Rollins\'s lifespan.
A striking piece of early Americana, New Hampshire history, folk art and mourning/memorial art. The combination of a named individual, his portrait and his own 1805 words makes this especially unusual.
Condition: Very good antique condition overall. The 1805 paper shows minor age toning, staining, creasing and wear. Please see all photos.
Benjamin asked to be remembered in 1805. More than 220 years later, his words and likeness remain together.
