Overview
A beautiful, highly collectible, and exceptionally rare complete piece of late-19th-century English washstand history. This authentic Victorian earthenware chamber pot comes featuring its original matching lid. Manufactured in Staffordshire, England by Cumberlidge & Humphreys (C. & H.) at either their Well Street or Gordon Pottery works, this piece features the company's distinct factory backstamp under the base dating it precisely between 1880 and 1893. The creamy white ironstone body is heavily adorned with stylized embossed leaves and handles, finished with elegant, heavy sponge-gilded gold accents decorating the body contours, lid panels, and rims.
Condition Report
Very Good vintage condition. This antique set is completely structurally intact with no chips, no cracks, no structural breaks, and no repairs to either the vessel or the lid. True to its 140+ years of age, the glaze exhibits standard fine surface crazing throughout, and there is normal, gentle aesthetic wear and thinning to the gold gilt highlights along high-contact ridges (all clearly documented in photos). An exceptionally clean, display-ready set.
