Here is a rare, antique and original brochure announcing the 25th anniversary reunion for the North and South Armies of the Battle of Gettysburg in 1888. It includes information about the reunion events and Pennsylvania Railroad excursion rates for war veterans interested in attending the reunion. The brochure was distributed to promote the event and offer Penn RR transportation rates and departure points for attendees. This historical piece of railroadiana and Civil War history offers a glimpse into the transportation and honors, just 25 years after the Battle of Gettysburg. This reunion was attended by thousands of former soldiers who had fought in Gettysburg just 25 years ago, from both the Confederacy and Union sides. And many of Gettysburg’s monuments were erected during this historic reunion.
Brochure is in good condition with some expected toning, a chip in the upper right corner and a 1” tear in the fold. I was lucky enough to find 2 of these in an old 1870s atlas. I have sold the first one, so this is the last one.
