Antique 1902 McLoughlin Bros Saint Bernard Dog Sleeping Girl Doll Gravure 32\" For Sale

Impressive large antique framed color gravure/lithographic print, dating to the early 1900s, featuring a charming Victorian/Edwardian scene of a young blonde girl asleep beside a massive Saint Bernard dog, with her small doll lying at her side.

This image is attributed to McLoughlin Bros., circa 1902, based on a documented example of the same subject described as an “Electro-Grain Gravure,” No. 1527. The attribution has not been independently confirmed on this example because the print remains in its original/early framing and any publisher markings may be concealed beneath the mat.

The print retains beautiful, rich coloration and exceptional detail, particularly in the child\'s face, lace clothing, the dog\'s fur and decorative collar. The sentimental child-and-dog subject is a wonderful example of turn-of-the-century decorative art.

Presented under glass with an aged mat in a substantial dark wood frame with gold-tone inner detailing. The reverse retains old wooden plank backing secured with numerous small nails, strongly contributing to the piece\'s antique character. I have intentionally not opened or disturbed the original backing.
