Large antique color lithograph, "Die Postkutsche" ("The Post Coach"), after Walter Georgi (German, 1871–1924), dated 1906. Printed in the plate lower left "Georg.19." A charming autumnal village scene: a yellow post-omnibus coach and team pause beneath a large oak tree overlooking a half-timbered German village, with distant chalk cliffs in the background.
This image was originally published as a "Schulwandbild" (school wall chart) by the Leipzig publisher B.G. Teubner, and is one of Walter Georgi's best-known and most widely reproduced compositions — an example is held in the collection of the Westphalian School Museum in Dortmund.
