Up for sale is an extremely rare and historically important original etching by renowned Ohio artist Edward Timothy Hurley (E.T. Hurley, 1869–1950), titled "The Lockman's Day House".
Created in 1917, this piece captures a rare scene along the historic Miami and Erie Canal in Cincinnati, Ohio, shortly before the canal was drained and paved over in the 1920s.
Signed in the plate and hand-signed in pencil lower right by the artist. Hurley's canal prints were produced in extremely small editions (typically 25 to 50 impressions) and are among his most desirable historical works for collectors of Cincinnati art.
