Beautiful, 100% authentic piece of Jazz Age history.
This Art Deco enameled metal mesh purse features a striking geometric shield and chevron motif typical of the Roaring Twenties.
Unlike many unmarked purses from this era, this piece retains its original Whiting & Davis metal signature tag intact on the interior frame rim, making it a highly desirable find for serious antique collectors.

Maker: Whiting & Davis Co.
Material: Enameled \"Armor Mesh\" (flat square links) with an embossed silver-tone metal frame.
Color: Exceptionally vibrant shades of bright yellow, sky blue, terracotta red, and cream.
Closer: Double-bead kiss-lock clasp (snaps shut securely).
Measurement: Approximately 4.5\" wide at the frame and 5.5\" to 6\" long (excluding the chain handle).
Condition
The mesh body is in wonderful structural shape with very minimal paint wear. The hand-screened enamel colors remain incredibly bright and crisp with excellent luster.
The silver-plated frame features a beautiful embossed relief pattern and has a nice, authentic aged patina. The chain link handle is fully intact.
Flaws
There is typical pulling/separation of the mesh from the frame right next to the hinges on both sides (please see the final close-up photo). A few links have detached from the original securing wire. It can be displayed safely as-is, but a simple wire reinforcement could increase durability and lifespan.
