Rare, beautifully engineered antique British Weights and Measures Inspector\'s traveling box-mounted field scale kit. Dating precisely to 1929, this self-contained countertop system was utilized by government inspectors to certify commercial trade scales.• Rare Box-Mounted Countertop
Design: Features an integrated, brass pillar mount socket on the top of the lid. This allowed the inspector to mount a vertical support rod directly to the secured box, transforming the entire travel case into a perfectly stable, self-contained countertop workstation (vertical pillar rod not included).• Double Verification Stamps: Both the central fulcrum of the iron balance beam and the lead adjustment plugs on the heavy weights feature matching, crisp British Crown verification marks alongside the \"GR\" (Georgius Rex) royal cypher for King George V. The localized inspector year stamp \"29\"
(1929) is clearly legible on the lead plug. Also part of the locking hardware is stamped 2 lever.Good condition for its age. As previously noted the vertical pillar rod is missing. The weights are cast iron with the exception of the 2oz one which is brass. The box lid has been modified at some point to remove the pins that would have slid into the lock and the lid doesn’t line up flush with the front so hinges may have been modified as well but not sure.
