Incredible antique wood corbel shelf/architectural salvage piece of a grotesque/gargoyle/witch with the best facial features...that one tooth! Definitely dates to at least the 19th century (1800s), but there\'s a chance it could possibly be earlier 18th century - this is due to the shape of the nail holes, which have impressions of the hand forged square heads, which is typical for 1700s nails. I can\'t say or know for sure, of course, but she is absolutely very antique. The dealer I got it from acquired it from the estate of an antique collector.
Would look great sitting on a shelf, atop a dresser, or hanging on a wall (can easily add hanger on the back) - I love it styled with a candle on top! Perhaps even some small books. It\'s really quite rare the carving is super well done.
Great condition for its age - there is wear and some losses, and cracks to the wood but structurally sound. Only major notes are the light spots of white paint on the nose and it does look like there once was another tooth that has since chipped off. There\'s a bit of old dust in the crevices, as well.
The surface measures 6.25\" x 5.5.\" Height is approx. 5.5\". Face comes off the front about 3\".
