Beautiful antique Austrian powder compact dating to approximately the 1920s–1930s Art Deco period.
This elegant round compact features a glossy black enamel face accented by an intricate pierced sterling silver floral basket medallion. The outer silver-tone border has a detailed repeating foliate design, while the reverse features an ornate engine-turned geometric pattern.
The interior retains its original mirror and gold-tone/gilt-finished powder compartment with rotating sifter mechanism.
Interior is marked “MADE IN AUSTRIA,” “STERLING SILVER,” and “925.” No maker's mark has been Austria

Beautiful antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its age and previous use. The black enamel presents very nicely. The mirror shows substantial age-related spotting/clouding and silvering loss, as photographed. Interior and metal surfaces show expected patina, discoloration and surface wear. Please review all photographs closely as they are an important part of the condition description.
A beautiful and substantial example of early 20th-century Austrian sterling silver vanity ware and a wonderful addition to an antique compact, vanity, Art Deco or sterling silver collection.
